Invitation to all those with an interest in Haiku, particularly Young Members and non-Japanese. Current members include three non-Japanese making haiku in Japanese, four Westerners writing in English and two Japanese writing in English as well as a large Japanese contingent writing in Japanese. Haiku workshop conducted in Japanese on the fourth Friday of the month (Advisor: INOUE Muneo) and a mixture of English and Japanese on the second Friday of each month. Submission of Haiku to "Fuyoh" may be in Japanese, English or both. Those who wish to submit Haiku in English will be instructed by Dhugal J. Lindsay. (of Kanrai and Haiku International) under direct consultation with Sugawa-sensei.

At the moment the Magazine "Fuyoh" is mainly in Japanese with around 8-9 pages in English. The haiku of 5-6 poets so far are found in both English and Japanese each edition. There is a translation corner where the best 2 haiku from each of the last 3 monthly meetings are translated and presented. One of the members writes some short notes on their favourite poems from this section. There's a page introducing kigo in both English and Japanese and an essay by Sugawa sensei and/or myself on some aspect of haiku. Subscribers are required to send in a number of haiku each quarter of which eight are chosen for publication (the number of haiku submitted doesn't really matter although around 15 is ideal) These haiku would then be translated into Japanese (by myself and Sugawa sensei) and both versions published. Phrasology is sometimes changed around (after careful consideration) by the Sensei as is the case in most Japanese haiku magazines. The best haiku of the eight published is then discussed (in a limited space) by myself.
Subscription is 5000 yen per year for one copy of each issue and extra copies can be ordered at 500 yen per copy.
The club (Rosewood Blossoms) is of a relatively traditional haiku school and most haiku should include seasonal words (that's what the kigo page is for). A fixed-form is not compulsory although it is encouraged.
